Lots of totes!

My stepmom sent me an article out of her newapaper about totes to replace plastic grocery bags. My sister told her that I had made several of the juice pouch purses a few years ago for all the girls that hang out at my house. My granddaughter and her friends...even the principals daughter after she saw them and saved me a bunch of empty pouches. The one she saw in the article was bigger. Over 30 pouches total!
The first picture is of the juice purse. The next is the lining of that purse, then Elvis, the juice tote ,a nurse purse I made last year that I am sending to my sister snd the green checked is from dish towels.

I decided to make that for her and a couple of unlined simple totes. One out of 2 dollar tree dishtowels and one from 2 Elvis fat quarters.

I think she will like and use them.

I am my own follower!

Ok! Now I am following myself! This happened because I can't figure out why my link to my blog doesn't show up on other sites I follow. somehow I ended up following my own self. I will try to fix it tomorrow but in messin with this my blood sugar dropped too low and I am now eating something really fattening to get it back over 70! Oh boy!I have spent the last 2 hours on this,UGH!
Well,I guess I'll post a picture of a purse I made last year that I am useing again because it has flowers,LOL!

http://keepsakesbymelissa.blogspot.com/ is trying to get 200 replies!

Thought I'd add a small wall-hanging I made a couple of years ago. I made it from a page in a coloring book. It was for a contest on a board I belong to. You needed a stamp somewhere on your entry so I used a nesting bird stamp!

OP Challenge baby quilt

I took on Pat Sloan's challenge awhile back and the top came in very handy as I needed a baby quilt for the new little girl across the street. I really had fun with her challenge.
I have found in the last few days that I am going to have to really play with my new camera. My old one was so easy and took nice pictures. Plus I have moved and don't have my clothesline to hang quilts on for really good pictures. My sister will be here in a couple of weeks though and she is going to help me learn the settings. It's something she is good at. Well, now it is not letting me post a picture!

Yay! We have a winner! The winner of the nice little Sugar Snap stack is "lesthook" who left a comment at 2:04 on 5/3. Congratulations Leta!! You're going to love it (plus I found a couple more scraps to add to it)!

It is super lovely and I am very lucky. Here is a picture after I opened it and spread it out! My picture is a little blurry. I really need to read the manual!

New lap quilt

The Grapes Of Mardi Gras to be exact. It started out with a Mardi Gras challenge which is where the scrap blocks came into play. The colors had orange, green and purple. Then I started pulling other material from my stash and decided to make a lap quilt for my son in law for his birthday. I just did a sort of squared off meandering pattern to quilt it freestyle. Which I hope to be really good at someday,LOL! It is fun though. I have had both grape materials for at least four years. It is totally a stash quilt.

I obviously need to practice with my camera more as the colors are not as clear in the one taken outside. Maybe the flash? Took another one inside(granddaughters legs,LOL!) and it must be a flash thing cause the two inside are much truer color. I need camera classes!

flower pot quilt

In 2002 I was spending most of my time in waiting rooms of various clinics and hospitals. My husband was sick. I always had a bag of hand work with me. Hexagons sometimes. And other times these baskets. He lost his battle with throat cancer at the end of june of that year. I finished the tops and put them away.

A couple of years ago I pulled the baskets back out and hand quilted it. I am going to tackle the hexagons (Grandmother's Flower Garden) this fall. I am waiting for my sister to get back here from Ft. Sill so she can help me pin it,LOL! Her hubby is army and they have just been transferred back to Ft. Bragg.

I am still trying to learn to insert the picture properly. I'll try on the side this time.Antway here is my Flower Pot Quilt. I got the pattern from a magazine but it was before I kept up with such things as whose pattern it was! I gave the quilt to my daughter.
