Where have I been?

I don't know! I had so much going on this summer and so much company I was overwhelmed. I am hoping to get back in the groove now though.

My sister that was staying in my sewing room is on her feet now and just got her own place so I have my room back!

I went to a local festival today and it was sure different than last year! A lot less venders and not nearly as crowded. I was very disappointed in the amount of crafts and wasn't tempted to buy anything.

I just finished a t-shirt quilt for my niece. It is made from my late mom's t-shirts. It is kind of crinkly but I think she will like it. Now maybe I can resume my normal life!

My win and where I have been

It has been busy here with grandkids and puppies and just plain craziness! But vthings are getting back to normal and it looks like it is just going to be me and the dogs for most of the week-end.

This is a prize I won in late june from here

http://messykaren.blogspot.com/ It's a wonderful prize! I have never knitted but used to crochet and know how much time it takes to make pretty things! And the lotion,Honey and Black Seed, is a new fragrance to me and I love it.

I guess I will have no excuse but to finish this now will I?

Big Brother is back!! Any more fans out there?

Covering burn marks

My daughter and grandson are visiting me this week. She had lyposcopy for endometriosis and they removed a cyst so she is recuperating here. I take them home tomorrow.

She has a Christopher Lowell bedspread that had some burn marks on it. I used applique to cover them in one corner. It turned out pretty cute!

puppy love

I really do love her. But she is so destructive! She chews cords! Last week she messed up my granddaughters phone charger cord and her laptop cord.

Tonight I was sewing and stopped to answer the phone. I heard my machine sewing like crazy but by the time I got there she had chewed the cord in two. Which for some reason caused it to rev up. Really wanted to cry over that one! The shop is over an hour away in each direction and who knows how much it costs to replace?

The first picture I loaded by mistake,LOL! My daughters friend brought her new baby by to visit. It is the little boy I recently made a blanket for.

The last 3 pictures are Bella about a month ago. Before she got into cords. I ran to the store and when I came back she had destroyed a whole bag of fiberfill and taken a bunch of safety pins out of the pin cushion.

I am so mad at her but that face! It gets me! And her mama (my daughter) is going to replace my cord, that's for sure!

Another juice pouch purse

I think I am a once a week blogger so far. I do hope to do better in the future. So when I posted my last juice tote, a board friend asked about purchasing one. So we arranged a trade instead! She is making me something in exchange for a tote. So I am sending her the one I made already and made my stepmom another one since she was out of town and I wanted to wait to mail her package. This is the new one I made. I played around with the pockets. I think all the wonky houses I have been seeing lately influenced me somewhat.

And my cute little grandson that was visiting over the week-end!

Todays sewing

And I thought I would show a couple of my family members! This is Laila and Bella. Laila is a 3yo boxer/collie mix. The mom was a collie,I swear! Bella is a 3 mo boxer. They are good friends. I have 4 dogs all together but I took this picture of them last night under my cutting and sewing tables.

These are some oven door dish towels I sewed today. Forgot about the one already in place!
Ok. Don't know how to rotate. Should have done it before uploading. One is going to my step-mom. I haven't mailed her package yet. The rest will be put in the save for presents box! Now to prep juicec bags for another tote. I am trading for a wreath which is great cause I am not good at wreaths and my trader is!

Baby quilt finished

I finished my latest baby quilt before the baby arrived. That's a good thing! This one is very colorful, but most of my baby quilts are. I don't usually use as many solids as I did this time though. I appliqued an elephant out of chennille on the front and the back is flannel.

This is for a boy.I'm almost out of the material that has the Children of the world on it. It has been in a few of my baby quilts.
It has been a very busy week-end here! I went to an estate sale yesterday and got lots of material at give-away prices! Maybe I can get it out and take pictures soon! I use mainly out of my 20 year stash but some things are hard to pass up,LOL!

Lots of totes!

My stepmom sent me an article out of her newapaper about totes to replace plastic grocery bags. My sister told her that I had made several of the juice pouch purses a few years ago for all the girls that hang out at my house. My granddaughter and her friends...even the principals daughter after she saw them and saved me a bunch of empty pouches. The one she saw in the article was bigger. Over 30 pouches total!
The first picture is of the juice purse. The next is the lining of that purse, then Elvis, the juice tote ,a nurse purse I made last year that I am sending to my sister snd the green checked is from dish towels.

I decided to make that for her and a couple of unlined simple totes. One out of 2 dollar tree dishtowels and one from 2 Elvis fat quarters.

I think she will like and use them.

I am my own follower!

Ok! Now I am following myself! This happened because I can't figure out why my link to my blog doesn't show up on other sites I follow. somehow I ended up following my own self. I will try to fix it tomorrow but in messin with this my blood sugar dropped too low and I am now eating something really fattening to get it back over 70! Oh boy!I have spent the last 2 hours on this,UGH!
Well,I guess I'll post a picture of a purse I made last year that I am useing again because it has flowers,LOL!

link to giveaway

http://keepsakesbymelissa.blogspot.com/ is trying to get 200 replies!

Thought I'd add a small wall-hanging I made a couple of years ago. I made it from a page in a coloring book. It was for a contest on a board I belong to. You needed a stamp somewhere on your entry so I used a nesting bird stamp!

OP Challenge baby quilt

I took on Pat Sloan's challenge awhile back and the top came in very handy as I needed a baby quilt for the new little girl across the street. I really had fun with her challenge.
I have found in the last few days that I am going to have to really play with my new camera. My old one was so easy and took nice pictures. Plus I have moved and don't have my clothesline to hang quilts on for really good pictures. My sister will be here in a couple of weeks though and she is going to help me learn the settings. It's something she is good at. Well, now it is not letting me post a picture!

Yay! We have a winner! The winner of the nice little Sugar Snap stack is "lesthook" who left a comment at 2:04 on 5/3. Congratulations Leta!! You're going to love it (plus I found a couple more scraps to add to it)!

It is super lovely and I am very lucky. Here is a picture after I opened it and spread it out! My picture is a little blurry. I really need to read the manual!

New lap quilt

The Grapes Of Mardi Gras to be exact. It started out with a Mardi Gras challenge which is where the scrap blocks came into play. The colors had orange, green and purple. Then I started pulling other material from my stash and decided to make a lap quilt for my son in law for his birthday. I just did a sort of squared off meandering pattern to quilt it freestyle. Which I hope to be really good at someday,LOL! It is fun though. I have had both grape materials for at least four years. It is totally a stash quilt.

I obviously need to practice with my camera more as the colors are not as clear in the one taken outside. Maybe the flash? Took another one inside(granddaughters legs,LOL!) and it must be a flash thing cause the two inside are much truer color. I need camera classes!
