Baby shower presents

M
My daughter gave a baby shower for her best friend yesterday, with the help of BF's sister. I don't have many pictures of the shower yet, they were on another camera. But I have a few. They are in my best (what does blogger want?) order,LOL!
The first is the burp cloths I made. Next is the chewy with ribbon. They are both laying on the blanket I made. I tried to match them up. I love to use minky on the back of baby blankets. I followed a tute for the burp cloths but can't add the link without fear of losing my page so will come back and add it. http://thequiltingdiaries.blogspot.com/2010/01/perhaps-easiest-burp-cloth-tutorial.html

The next is a picture of Melissa opening one of her gifts. Her sister is to the left and husband behind her.

These pictures are of the community center where the shower was located

This is the head table when it was almost decorated. It was a really fun shower.

Fast quilt project

A call was put out that a craft friend was very sick. She has cancer and was having a rough time. A lady I didn't know at the time was taking on the large undertaking of gathering a few special blocks and forming some sort of comfort quilt for them. Time was of the essence. She wanted her to know how much we love her as soon as possible. We had less than a week to get blocks to her.

I pulled out a couple of strip blocks and personalized them. My only contribution to this quilt was 2 blocks. The rest were other crafters and quilters. And Peggy ,who pulled it all together.

The latest news is that our friend is on chemo with a good prognosis and should recieve her quilt soon. I was honored to contribute to this effort.
More pictures can be seen at Peggy's blog

My Downy quilts for kids

I finally got the pictures uploaded of my quilts I made. The first one is the kit they sent me. It is so bright! The fabric is called nuts and bolts. The second one I fussy cut from some kitten material that I have had for several years. All the fabric in the second picture is at least 5 years old and probably closer to 10 years. Now I just have to mail them back to them tomorrow!

Look what I found!

My sister brought a crate from storage in because it had some batting in it and I needed some. It also had these quilt tops. I didn't make any of them. They were picked up at yard sales or estate sales probably in the 90's.

I am going to find backings for them and quilt them sometime this year. Except for the pink and flowered one. I may make some changes to it. They are all bedsized. I have them folded in the picture.

This is what happens to some of our unfinished tops when family members that don't quilt, inherit them!

hexagon quilt and ufo's

I made 2 quilt tops in 2002 and put them away. They were the ones that I worked on in Doctors offices, cancer treatment centers etc when my husband was being treated for the cancer that took his life later that year. I pulled the flower pot one out a year or so ago and quilted it for my youngest daughter. I just realized that I posted about the flower pot one last yearalso!
I have the other one out now and as soon as I go get some more batting I am going to finish it. I think it has to be handquilted.
It is a hexagon made with freezer paper. I am showing part of the front and part of the back. It is going to my oldest daughter. Any suggestions on quilting it?
